Easy Delicious Ribs

Easy Delicious Ribs
Everyone who cooks ribs will tell you that they know how to make the best ribs. They boil them, steam them, grill them…you name it. I’m not going to tell you I make the best ribs (mostly because Melissa will tell you she makes the best), but I will say they are damn good…and easy!! The most important thing to do is to strip the membrane. I know it sounds gross, but doing this will make the ribs nice and tender! It’s the most time consuming part, but well worth it!!

Level of Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: Prep Time – 30min; Cook Time – 2 hours

Rack of ribs (estimate 4-6 ribs per person)
Dark Beer or Coke (Do NOT use light beer, diet coke, or even worse…Pepsi)
Your favorite Rib Rubs
Garlic Salt
BBQ Sauce (We are currently in a Sweet Baby Ray’s phase)

Special Equipment and Other Items Needed:

Pastry Brush
8 ½ x 11 Baking Dish

How to make Easy Delicious Ribs:

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Cut the rack of ribs in half using a very sharp chef’s knife. Trim any excess fat that you see. Starting from a corner on the back side of the ribs, peel off the top layer (membrane) using a paper towel. The paper towel makes it easier to grip. You might have to help get the membrane up with a small paring knife at first. Don’t get frustrated. This is the part that makes a world of difference.
Once you’ve done that to all of the ribs, start seasoning both sides!! We always make a rack with just garlic salt since it’s the most kid friendly. We try to mix up the rest between sweet and spicy.
Once the ribs are seasoned place them in the baking dish. You should be able to get at least 3 half racks per dish. Add the beer or coke to the pan. Don’t pour directly over the ribs or the seasoning might come off. Try to find a little hole to pour it through. You will use about ¾ – 1 can or bottle per pan. You want the ribs only about ⅓ covered with the liquid.
Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and pop in the oven for about 1 hr 45 minutes. You want to be able to bend the ribs easily, but not break them totally in half.
Take the ribs out when they are done and place on a flat baking sheet. Using a pastry brush, brush on the BBQ sauce generously to both sides. Place on a grill at medium heat for about 5 minutes per side, just enough to give the ribs that wonderful BBQ flavor!! Let sit for about 10 minutes before cutting. Serve, enjoy, and make sure you have a WHOLE lot of napkins!!

I love Denise but this is where we may have to throw down the gauntlet. Watch for an upcoming recipe for MY ribs and special sauce. You can try them both and decide which one you prefer…just remember though…I may know where you live 😉
