Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Chicken lettuce wraps are one of my favorite things to order at a good Chinese restaurant. My kids are really into eating salads these days (as long it’s made with “the crunchy lettuce”), so I thought I would give my own chicken lettuce wraps a try. I just used a few vegetables and sauce I had in my fridge and went to town! If you have followed our blog long enough, you know I’m all about making delicious food that is easy to cook, especially on a weeknight. I will say, I was pretty impressed with myself after this dish!

Level of Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: Prep Time – 15 min; Cook Time – 15 min.

Ingredients for 4 servings:

16 Romaine lettuce leaves

4 chicken breasts, chopped

1/2 cup carrots, diced

1/2 cup broccoli, cut into small pieces

Slavo Salt (or other seasoning salt)

Yoshida Sauce (or your favorite teriyaki/soy blend)

Olive Oil

Preparing Chicken Lettuce Wraps:

In a small saute pan, cook your vegetables in just a bit of oil. Meanwhile, heat a larger skillet with olive oil over medium heat. Add your chopped chicken (make sure it really is chopped well before you add it to the pan). Season with Slavo Salt. The chicken should cook in about 5 -7 minutes. Drain. Return to the pan and add vegetables. Add sauce and bring to a simmer for about 5 minutes.

Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Place 4 lettuce leaves on each plate. Spoon the mixture on each plate. You don’t want to get too much of the sauce on there otherwise it will be very messy!

Important Tips:

Make sure you use hearty chicken breasts, not thin sliced.

Variations:

You can do just about anything with these. You can give them a Thai flavor by adding some green onions, peanuts and changing up the sauce. You can make them as directed above but change up the vegetables. Make them to suit your family’s taste and everyone will be happy.

These would make a great appetizer too!

I served with some edamame! Simple, easy, healthy and delicious!

Got Leftovers?:

So we didn’t have any leftovers, but I think next time I’m going to use more ingredients for school lunches the next day. The chicken mixture can easily fit in a thermos for school and the lettuce I used can go in a resealable baggie!

    PF Changs has THE BEST lettuce wraps ever. I love the sauces they mix at the table..hot hot hot. AND, best thing is, I get to go there this weekend as a little celebratory dinner for my birthday, my daughter’s birthday, and my daughter’s boyfriend leaving for college on Sunday. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I do believe I will order the fried green beans as well! Sorry that this post is personal and not recipe related ha ha. You just got me going looking at those photos!

    • Of course, I got the idea from PF Changs and couldn’t wait until the next time I go back to have them. So…I created my own! The next time I’m going to add some water chestnuts and bean sprouts! Happy celebrations to everyone this weekend!
